伝統工芸デザイン支援システムを活用した照明器具の開発指導

工芸素材の高品位な質感を三次元コンピュータグラフィックスで表現した伝統工芸デザイン支援システムを開発し，システムを活用して，九谷焼の照明器具を開発した。陶磁器の照明器具に施す伝統的な九谷焼の絵柄を，リアルな三次元コンピュータグラフィックスによる仮想試作を用いて検討を重ねた結果，製造者とデザイナー間で意志疎通を図ることができ，開発に費やす時間とコストを大幅に軽減することができた。

Development of a Kutani Ceramic Lampshade Using the Traditional Craft Design Support System

We developed a system to support the design of traditional crafts, using a three-dimensional computer graphics system, which enables the visualization of high-definition design images in real time, and also includes a database of patterns for traditional crafts. Kutani ceramic lampshades were made using this system. We reviewed the traditional patterns for ceramic lampshades using realistic virtual prototypes made by computer graphics. We were able to reduce the costs and time required for the development of prototypes, since the designer and the manufacturer could share the product image through computer graphics.
