Stiffening Regional Wood and Application
to Interior Design
- Development of New Products Using Hot Pressed Wood of Cedar and
Noto-Hiba -

For the purpose of practical use of the regional wood of Cedar and Noto-Hiba,
a joint research collaboration with Industrial Research Institute of Ishikawa,
Ishikawa Forest Experiment Station and the regional enterprises were inaugurated.
In this research group, the hot pressed wood was prepared and the physical
property was examined. Moreover, the new products such as the furniture,
the fittings and the interior materials using the hot pressed wood were
manufactured and evaluated. The obtained results were as follows:
(1)The 19 kinds of new products using the hot pressed regional wood were
manufactured experimentally. As a result, we confirmed that the products
using many wood such as the window sash had the high possibility as commercial
end.
(2)The shape instability of hot pressed wood was one of the technical
problems for commercial end. Therefore, it is important to develop the
new hot pressing apparatus which improve stability.
