Development of Computer Network System in I.R.I.I
Yoshihiro UEDA, Katsuaki HAYASHI, Mitsuyoshi MAEKAWA and Naotaka KATO
We have been promoting regional information network system on scientific research since 1989. This Wide Area Network system (WAN) is called "Hitech Net Ishikawa". The purpose of this system is to enhance communication among researchers in Ishikawa prefecture as well as communication between researchers in Tsukuba, Toyama, Shizuoka, Touhoku, and Keihanna area.
In addition,we developed also Local Area Network system (LAN) for the technical consultation database, regional company information database, scheduling systems, and etc.
ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network (promoted as INS1500, INS64 by NTT)) is used for "Hitech Net Ishikawa", and Ethernet is used for our LAN systems.

Shirou MINEKAGE, Yoshitaka MORIMOTO, Toshihiro NAKAYABU
In this study, due to develop the precision cutting technology of hardened stainless steel, effects of tool wear and surface roughness on tool geometry (negaland angle, nose radius) in micro cutting condition is investigated. The main results obtained are surmmarized as follows.
1) The geometry of tools greatly affects the tool wear and surface roughness.
2) The flank wear depends on the cutting speed and the cutting speed about 130〜160m/min is the most stable range.
3) Average cutting temperature is 923〜1.023K using CBN tools in optimum cutting speed of 130〜160m/min and it infuluences cutting mechanism significantly. 4) The scratch marks on wear surface affects the surface roughness and tool life.

Studies on the Technique of Applying the Laser Mesurement System
Katsuaki SAKAYA, Toshio OHURA and Kenichi HIROSAKI
In order to promote the practical use of a laser measurement system by expanding the application, following new measuring methods have been developed.
1) A fiber optic laser interferometer for non-contact measurement of surface profiles has been developed. It has been demonstrated that the surface roughness, roundness and flatness of diamond turned surfaces are measured and the measurement accuracy is better than ±20nm.It has been shown also that this method is applicable to the on-machine measurement of surface profiles.
2) A precision method for the measurement of indexing accurary has been developed, where the self calibration technique and the laser measurement system are used. It has been confirmed that the dispersions of measured values are reduced to about 1/2 in comparison with the method using an autocollimator.

To develop a new method of evaluating the comfortability of clothes in a state of wearing objectively from physical properties (of the fabrics), we have analized several data about the comfortability of blouses in a state of wearing, such as sultriness and phisical chara-cteristics, such as composition of materials, mechanical properties, heat-moisture transfer properties by multiple regression analysis method. As the result we could establish new analysing method to judge the comfortability of clothes in a state of wearing by using an imploved equation of regression analysis.
